Again in fine fetle, this time with added audio!

For those of you readers who knew what was happening this evening, may I just say that I have spent a thoroughly enjoyable evening in the company of someone who literally makes my spine tingle. That is all I have to say on the matter. To anyone who knows not the slightest thing as to which I am talking, apologies, doubtless you would find it mundane at best anyway.

On Friday I went to see the Deftones, one of my favourite ever bands, and once the greatest live band I had ever seen. Alas, these days they can’t conjure the same electricity that buzzed around Newcastle’s Riverside venue in 1998, but they still remain a marvellous live band. Or at least they would, had the sound been somewhere approaching normal, or had the crowd reached some level of participation higher than that of a caged and confused chimp. It was like being in a festival watching a band that you know are excellent, but the rest of the crowd are simply manning their position waiting for the next band to come on. All the way through it felt as through once the Deftones were done, the Foo Fighters would come on and blow the otherwise unimpressed crowd away.

On another note, whilst at the front of a tightly packed crowd, once they stop moshing and start actually dancing, it turns into nothing more than a dry-humpathon, with each person gyrating no further than the person in front’s ‘bottom’ area. When the person in front is an attractive young woman, it’s enough to make an old man like myself feel rather uncomfortable.

I like mixing things together.

Current Pages Written: 11 (Still on target)

As well as continuing as I mean to go on, tonight I’ve also been working at finally finishing the compilation I’ve been promising Jonic for so long it’s no longer funny. Suffice to say though, at three cd’s in length, it’s going to be the best thing ever. I shall shortly reward such dedication and perspiration by watching the most recent episode of Heroes, so I shall be caught up with American television.

My bank have finally deemed me worthy to receive a cash card that I can use to actually buy things in shops, my last one being so useless that the lack of a nearby cashpoint rendered me as useless as Chris O’Donnell playing Robin.

I man really, isn’t that just the campest attempt at being a superhero ever? He looks like he’s trying to cower from some unseen foe. And look how shiny that suit is! Look at the attempt at emotion on his face! And is he farting?

24

Well, I bought the fifth season of 24 on DVD, and I’m ashamed to say that it has eaten my life. Oh well.

One of the joys of YouTube is searching for random artists and finding gems, such as this one:

More postage once I know what happens at the end of the season.

Scrobble

The decision to put my entire music collection onto random for the purpose of confusing Last.fm has utterly glued me to my computer.  It’s like crack.  I just have to know what the next track is going to be, and now that I’ve decided not to skip anything, I’ve found myself listening to very strange things indeed.  For som reason though, the overall mood created by such musical randomisations is one of bewildering calm.

I’ve been meaning to get a best of 2006 compilation (like the very excellent one by Last Year’s Girl) up for download here, but I haven’t finished tinkering with it, and there are a few albums I’m still digesting at the moemtn, but I should have it up this week.  Providing of course that Jonic doesn’t mind the server hosting it…..

Things I wish I’d found.

I wish I could say I was the one to find this, but Jen deserves all the credit in the world for unearthing this little gem. It’s a simple little website called (and I shit you not) ‘Sex In Christ.‘ It is a faith based website for those of you out there who want to indulge in all the joys of life without offending the big fella upstairs. There are only a handful of pages to the site, but who needs more when the existing ones have titles like “Anal Sex in Accordance with God’s Will,” “Bondage in Christ,” “BDSM in a Christian Marriage” and that great cornerstone of the Christian faith “Threesomes Within a Christian Marriage.” I guarantee you will lose yourself for hours here. It starts off seeming like a windup, but it soon becomes clear that this is indeed deadly serious. Be sure also to check out the readers Q&A section, where proper fire and brimstone Christians get to vent their spleens at the site’s creators.

Following in the arena of stealing the ideas of others, after Jonic’s post the other day about last.fm I thought I’d mosey on over there and set up a profile, something I’ve been meaning to do for months. So over I go and type in my usual username, formulaic666, only to find tat it had already been taken! I must admit I sat stunned for a while. Since I came up with my internet moniker, I’ve never had an instance of it being taken by another person on any other website. After a while of sitting dumbfounded I thought to try to log in with a random password I use, and hey presto, it turns out I must have set it up ages ago and forgotten to do anything with it. Oh well. So, now that it’s hooked into my media player to try and figure out what I like to listen to, I thought I’d give it a challenge and put my media player onto random. So now it’s being fed a mix of extreme metal, along with some Bill Hicks, Al Green, Eels, Journey, Sufjan Stevens and Aphex Twin.  Nice.  That’ll teach you to pigeonhole me!
