No matter how far Mel Gibson has charged into insanity, I frothed visably at the mouth at the news on AICN that there may well be a new Lethal Weapon film.  These films have been an integral part of my genetic make up ever since I used to go to my Dad’s friend’s house in the coutryside as a kid, and became exposed to what seemed at the time like a treasure trove of VHS.  This was where my obsession with film really kicked in, staying up late and watching Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Robocop and Nightmare on Elm Street.  Unlike most other fans of the series, I never really felt it dipped in quality, and remain convinced that the fourth (and at the time supposedly last) installment is just as good as the first, with Riggs and Murtaugh’s effortless banter becoming like a kind of safety blanket for me.  And with the news that Scriptwriter extrodinaire and original LW screenwriter Shane Black may be behind this new adventure, I am very excited.  Now I’ve said this, however, just you wait for it to be a huge steaming pile of dog faeces.
