The horror

Watched the first episode of E4’s new teen drama Skins, expecting a horrific car crash of clichés and trends, but was most pleasantly surprised to find that it was at the very least a watchable, and at times very well written and made piece of fluff. I shall continue to watch at this rate, no matter how old it makes me feel.

I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never seen Annie Hall before, it’s one of those films I’ve always meant to see but never quite gotten around to. It’s starting on Film4 in a few minutes though, so I shall see if it lives up to the hype.

Wired has posted a funny little story about Google Earth leading to a new craze called satellite art, which seems to me to be the next logical step from crop circles, but with more fun and less effort. I love the example they have used:

It’s apparantly called ‘Space Invaders From Space.’ Ace.

Did you watch Annie Hall? Now there’s a classic I saw late (only a couple of months ago) and loved. I saw Magnolia last night though (sadly, tragically missing Skins…) - what a pile of wank that was.

Surely they were earth invaders from space? Never thought of that before… Isn’t it funny all the interesting things one comes up with when bored and supposed to be going to get the bus?

I’d never thought of that either… The game didn’t really have a story, so they could be invading anywhere… It also seems that it’s not even set on a planet, but that could have more to do with the graphical limitations of the hardware at the time.

I suppose, given that, the simple title ‘Invaders’ would be more appropriate, although I’m not sure even that title is pertinent, given the aliens’ somewhat unorthodox approach to evading their destruction at the hands of a spotty youth in an arcade. Surely just flying straight at their target en masse would have been a better way of conducting their invasion?

I loved Annie Hall, brilliant film. As for Magnolia, I’ve always wanted to see it, but never enough to do anything about it.
